To celebrate the tenth printing and fifth anniversary of Days of War, Nights of Love, we produced an especially limited, deluxe, hardcover printing of 100 copies. Of the 100, 50 are as pictured below and were made available only as gifts for people who donated $100 or more during a financial crisis in the summer of 2006. The other 50 have slightly different endsheets, and have been given as gifts to the 50 people who have offered the most indispensable assistance to CrimethInc. in the past five years (it is too late to get on that list now).
Despite the very limited print-run of 100 copies, the books were finished professionally at every level: offset, production run, interior pages, including a line on the anti-copyright page noting the special edition; a full-color offset cover, matte laminated with a spot UV Gloss coat for titling; Smythe sewn signatures casebound in .08 boards with a sewn-in black ribbon bookmark.
The Smythe sewn case binding was done by hand by Canadian bookbinders and is of the highest quality, rendering the book delightful to page through and supremely durable with a very flexible inner spine and easy lay-flat capability. The Spot UV gloss was used for the only text on the front cover and spine, creating the illusion at certain angles of a book without text on the cover and at other angles being easily readable (see photos). The endsheets are metallic silver ink letterpressed onto heavy black paper. This is truly the ne plus ultra edition of Days of War, valuable both as both a rare keepsake and the most elegant and utilitarian version of the book ever produced.
